Lyric Poem · Hope
The Zero on the Cake
A zero on the birthday cake
can read like a full stop —
a summit marker, halfway sign,
a long look from the top.
But hold the zero to your eye:
it's not a stop — a scope.
Look through. The view from here is wide,
and most of it is hope.
