QuillOak is a reader-first poetry library: 1246 classic and original poems organized the way people actually look for them — by theme, occasion, poet, and form — with short notes that tell you why each poem matters, not homework about it.
Where the poems come from
Every classic poem on this site is in the public domain, drawn from first editions and authoritative public-domain collections. For poets whose work is still in copyright, we publish short fair-use excerpts with commentary and link to where the full poems can be read. Original poems for modern occasions are written by our editors and clearly marked.
How you may use them
Public-domain poems are free for any use. Our original poems are free for personal use — read one at a wedding, print one in a card, share one with a friend. For commercial use of original work, please get in touch.
Corrections
Poem texts vary between historical editions. If you spot a transcription error, we genuinely want to know — accuracy is the whole point of a library.
