How we work

Editorial policy

QuillOak is built for the moment between reading a poem and writing one. We value traceable texts, concise human guidance, honest uncertainty, and tools that keep the writer in control.

Selection & review

We select works for a clear reading, occasion, or craft journey—not simply because a bulk corpus contains them. Imported metadata is checked against the site taxonomy. Featured notes and form guidance are written for QuillOak and reviewed for clarity, source fit, and copyright risk before publication.

Analysis & attribution

Editorial notes distinguish interpretation from fact and avoid presenting one reading as final. Factual historical claims should be sourceable. Automated tool output is labeled and is never represented as a named editor's review.

Original work

Poems credited to The Quillery are original QuillOak editorial work. Personal sharing is permitted; commercial republication requires permission. They are not labeled public domain and do not borrow a living poet's distinctive voice.

Editorial translations

Where QuillOak supplies new English wording for a historical source poem, the page says so. Historical translations identify their translator and publication evidence because translation rights are assessed independently from the source work.

Change history

Each displayed poem has a text fingerprint and review date. A material text, attribution, source, or rights change receives a new fingerprint and review. See sources and provenance and corrections.
