2From childhood's hour I have not been

3As others were — I have not seen

4As others saw — I could not bring

5My passions from a common spring —

6From the same source I have not taken

7My sorrow — I could not awaken

8My heart to joy at the same tone —

9And all I lov'd — I lov'd alone —

10Then — in my childhood — in the dawn

11Of a most stormy life — was drawn

12From ev'ry depth of good and ill

13The mystery which binds me still —

14From the torrent, or the fountain —

15From the red cliff of the mountain —

16From the sun that 'round me roll'd

17In its autumn tint of gold —

18From the lightning in the sky

19As it pass'd me flying by —

20From the thunder, and the storm —

21And the cloud that took the form
